Couple Wins €7.3million In The Irish Lotto | Syndicate Bag's €2,3 Million

An Irish couple have admitted that they had no idea of their win until two weeks after their purchase. The Irish Lotto ticket, which was sold to them in SuperValu in the Irish Capital, was worth a staggering €7.3million! This is what the ecstatic husband had to say:

"I’d heard on the radio that a syndicate had won the jackpot, and I usually wait until the 8 draws are over on the ticket before I check it. So I put it into a ticket checker in a shop in Killiney and the message told me to contact National Lottery offices," he said. "I thought ‘ that’s strange.’ So when I went back to the office, I put in the numbers on the web checker and all these fireworks went off."

"But I still didn’t believe anything great had happened. When I went home, my wife and I checked again on the web, the fireworks thing happened again. We sort of knew then that something big was about to happen, and we didn’t sleep all night’."

The wife revealed that they had to release some of that pent-up energy. She admitted to going on a little splurge for sweets. "Friday evening, we went out to Ouzos in Blackrock to celebrate, with desserts!"

"We pushed out the boat and had vanilla and cookie dough ice-cream, chocolate brownie, crème Brulee and banoffi, with some Irish coffees. We’ll definitely celebrate by adding dinner to the desserts soon."

The Dubliners have revealed their exciting plans after winning the jackpot, but not before making worthy contributions towards various charities. "We're looking forward to being secret Good Samaritans, and doing some philanthropic work when we see a need." This is where their plans become really exciting. Below is a list of items on which the quirky couple wishes to splurge:

  • "a trip to Disneyland in Florida"
  • "a cruise in Jamaica"
  • "an indoor slide"
  • "a new car"
  • "find dream house and pay off mortgage immediately"
  • "a pin ball machine"
  • "a popcorn maker"
  • "a trip to Venezuela"
  • "an immediate trip to Harvey Norman to check out GIGANTIC screens for a new home cinema"

Irish Syndicate Bag's €2,3 Million In Irish Lotto

A syndicate made up of family members from Dublin couldn't believe their good fortune when they collected their €2,307,937 prize at the Irish Lotto Headquarters on 29 September. The family, who wish to remain anonymous, were one of two winners who claimed their share of the €4,6 million jackpot prize.

A spokeswoman for the family admitted that they didn't really take their chances seriously until they heard that a previous family syndicate had just recently won. "We only checked our tickets after we heard about the other winning family syndicate from Westmeath and we realised there was another winning ticket from Dublin. Since we checked our numbers, we haven’t had any sleep with the excitement. One of the first things we discussed as a group is how we are all genuinely delighted that we have shared this jackpot with another family."

"It’s such a nice amount to win and it’s lovely to think that a large Lotto jackpot can be shared between two family syndicates and we would like to wish them all the best of luck. I think we would be an incredibly sensible bunch so we will get the cheque into the bank and take some time out to think about our win."

"The first big thing we want to do is to treat the whole family to a holiday in the Caribbean after Christmas so we can celebrate properly. We will obviously be looking after our Mam and Dad, it is a happy family occasion and we plan to enjoy it for a long time."
